Union Grove is a non- profit organisation providing a home from home environment and want people to feel like part of a family. Everyone is working together for the good of the children as practitioners, ensuring the children’s learning and that they are meeting all the developmental needs of each child.

Key persons

Our key person system gives each member of staff particular responsibility for just a few children. Each child in the group has one special adult to relate to, which can make settling into the group very much easier. In addition, the key person is in a position to tailor the group’s curriculum to the unique needs of each individual child. The key person maintains links with parents through shared record-keeping to ensure that all children are supported in reaching their full potential.

We have a record keeping system in which observations of your child in the group are used as a basis for drawing up a curriculum for your child. Staff are encouraged and given opportunity to train, in order to keep them abreast with all updated elements of good childcare practice.

The role of parents/parents as partners

The nursery recognises parents as the first and most important educators of their young children. Our nursery’s aim is to support parents by working together in our setting to ensure results have a positive impact on children’s learning and development. Parents are welcome to:
